Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)

About this resource: WIC helps to improve the health of women infants, and children by providing healthy foods, health information, and referrals to health care.

Who can use this resource? Individuals must meet eligibility requirements. To be eligible for WIC in Wisconsin, you must:

  • Be a resident of Wisconsin

  • Have a child under 5 years old OR be pregnant

  • Be eligible based on income

    • You may automatically qualify if you participate in FoodShare, Medicaid, BadgerCare Plus, or Wisconsin Works Program (W2)

Double Dollars Program // Community Action Coalition (CAC)

About this resource: The Double Dollars program provides Quest EBT card shoppers with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $25 per market day at participating farmers’ markets. Eligible farmers’ market products include:

  • Breads and Cereals

  • Fruits and Vegetables

  • Meats, fish, and poultry

  • Dairy products

  • Plants and seeds that grow food

Who can use this resource? Anyone who has an EBT card!

Next Steps:

  • This program runs from June 1st – December 31st (or until funding runs out). Find a participating Farmer’s Market!

  • You will need to bring your Quest EBT card with you to the information booth at the farmers’ market. The volunteers will swipe your card and provide you with the market money and Double Dollars. You will receive one market dollar and one double dollar for every dollar you withdraw.

Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

About this resource: The ADRC may be able to provide Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers for individuals 60 and older.

Who can use this resource? Older adults

National School Breakfast and Lunch program for Wisconsin

About this resource: The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) School Breakfast ad National School Lunch Programs make nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free meals available to school children each school day.

Who can use this resource? Qualifying individuals must be a resident in the state of Wisconsin and a parent or primary caregiver of a child(ren) who attends school (high school and under). There are income eligibility requirements.

Wisconsin Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

About this resource: The Wisconsin Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to low-income children during school vacations.

Transit Solutions Group Access Food Pantry Trips

About this resource: Transit solutions offers a group ride program for individuals 60 and older and for individuals with disabilities. The ride operates over all sides of town (North side residents can use the East side pantries).

Who can use this resource? Adults 60 and older who live in their own home and apartment OR individuals with disabilities.

    • It is recommended that you call a few days ahead to reserve a spot.

**Some food pantries may have their own requirements and service areas. Some eligibility requirements are included on the transit solutions form. Call the number on the form if you have further questions.

Slow Food UW

About this resource: Slow Food UW has two main projects, Family Dinner Night and Cafe, which both serve weekly meals on campus. Family Dinner Night includes three courses: appetizer, entrée, & dessert. Cafe includes a main entree, sides, and a delectable dessert

 

Cost: The cost of the meal is based on our Pay What You Can model. Pay for your meal what you can! $0 for a Pay It Forward meal. No questions asked.

The menus change each week and is based on seasonality and locality. You can find the weekly menus on Slow Food UW's Facebook or Instagram page.
