About this resource: Public Health- Madison & Dane County offers free support for pregnant people living in Dane County. Services include birth control services, help with WIC enrolled, childcare options, breastfeeding and nursing care while pregnant and up to 2 years after birth.

Who can use this resource? Pregnant individuals may qualify if they are eligible for other programs such as WIC, FoodShare, Medicaid, or the W-2 program. You do not need to be a legal resident to use this resource.

About this resource: Babies and Beyond offers a host of services for expecting and new mothers throughout the Dane County community. Services include:

Sharing Center & Diaper Bank - Our sharing center  and diaper bank offers free baby items a diapers for women and families with children of ages 0-4years old. All items are donated and our stock varies each week.

Baby Care Packages - We will deliver a "Welcome Baby" gift to parent and baby at the hospital or once returning home.

Safe Sleep Program- Our Safe Sleep program provides cribs, bassinets, and other safe sleep accommodations for families in need.

Classes and Resources- We offer free classes for baby basics and parenting skills, as well as other resources to encourage healthy and positive parenting. 

Who can use this resource? Anyone! An ID to verify name is required.

Breastfeeding Hotlines- Meriter,St. Mary's, Public Health Madison  updated 2/26/2025

About this resource: UnityPoint Health -Meriter Hospital, SSM Health -St. Mary's Hospital, and Public Health-Madison and Dane Country provide free, confidential, 24/7 phone assistance for breastfeeding parents in times of need.

Additionally, Public Health Madison & Dane County offers free breastfeeding support including information on community resources, and answering questions about breastfeeding. Through individual consultation, breastfeeding counselors provide support and information, before and after delivery. The program ensures breastfeeding goes well from birth, get past any difficulties that may arise in the early weeks, and continue to give your baby breast milk while away for work or school.

Medical Students Supporting Expecting Parents (MSSEP)     updated 2/26/2025

About this resource: MSSEP (formerly MOMS) provides support services and community education to pregnant people in Madison through the volunteer work of first- and second- year medical students. Students are matched with expecting parents and accompany them throughout their pregnancy journey, serving as emotional support while learning about the childbirth process from the patient perspective.

Who can use this resource? Anyone!

About this resource: Through Public Health- Madison & Dane County, The Nurse Family Partnership Program provides support for getting healthcare, personalized support to set goals and reach them, information about pregnancy, breastfeeding, and parenting, and connection to other child and parent resources.

A nurse will work with you and your family until your baby is 2 years old.

Who can use this resource? Pregnant individuals may qualify if they are eligible for other programs such as WIC, FoodShare, Medicaid, or the W-2 program. You do not need to be a legal resident to use this resource. It does not have to be your first pregnancy!

Who can use this resource? Parents/primary caregivers must live in Dane County (with proof of residence) and be either pregnant or have a child under the age of 5
